Sustainability

It’s more than just “being green”

Sustainability has become a key issue in the design, construction, refurbishment and ongoing maintenance of a building.

It is estimated that up to 50% of carbon emissions are generated from buildings and the government is very committed to sustainable design and management systems in buildings.

A sustainable building is designed to minimise the negative environmental impact whilst maximising the positive social and economic impact including future management and costs.

MedicX Group is committed to developing such buildings through Primary Asset, our development division, and having consideration of future sustainable maintenance systems where possible.

The sustainability aspects which need to be considered for most buildings are:

  • Site selection and use
  • The building’s surroundings including orientation
  • Construction methods and materials
  • Energy systems
  • Lighting
  • Access
  • Water management
  • Waste management
